Default pivot table conditional formatting

what I would like to do is conditionally format my pivot table so that
an entire row highlights based on the name of the product in column A
of my pivot table... I have products in column A going down and
measures across as columns. thought I could use the following
conditional format
where formula is....$A6="brand a"

thought this would highlight the entire row of brand a..but it doesn't
work..

any help would be appreciated
