Trying to move excel spreadsheets from clone Windows 2000 Professional
computer to new Dell Windows Vista Machine. Have not been able to figure out
how to transfer. Please help!

Copy them from a folder on the win2k pc to a USB thumb drive. Then copy from
the USB to your favorite folder on the Vista pc.

If you use a CD (or CDRW), then you'll probably have to turn off the Readonly
property (via windows explorer).

Or email the files -- if you have email on each pc???

Dave, appreciate your identifying how/where to turn off Read Only in IE. Am
using XP which was previously on network and now trying to move files to
Office 2003 Excel. Receiving msg "file cannot be accessed because specified
folder does not exist, down to exceeding 218 characters. Don't know how to
i.d. new folder nor change name to reduce characters. And then again,
possibly this could be a Vista problem as worked earlier today on line to
resolve a security problem; end result was I removed Norton Internet Security
2006 & now another problem.
Truly appreciate your help!

Dave, appreciate your identifying how/where to turn off the Read Only property. Using PC XP previously set up for Network and trying to move files to Vista. Receiving msg file could not be accessed

I'm not sure what you used to transfer the file, but can you open windows
explorer and traverse down the folder that contains the file(s) you want, then
copy them to their new location.

This could turn into a folder by folder procedure, so take your time and don't
get too frustrated.
