Default Use of ADO.NET in Excel 2000/XP

Hi,
Would really appreciate if someone can comment on this.
I need to work with an SQL Server 2000 db and use Excel(vba) as the front end.

I have done this with ADO, but would like to use ADO.NET.

Is this possible to do this, without using Visual Studio Tools for Office to
do this??

Thnaks
Raj
