Your trouble-shooting steps up to now have been........?
Should the folder be accessible? Is the folder protected? Possibly a third-party app? Do you have permission to write to that folder? Hi DJA-
More info is needed in order to offer any suggestions. Is the folder on your local drive or a network? Are you trying to save a file to a CD/DVD? These answers plus any other facts would be quite helpful |:) "DJA" wrote: I am trying to saveas files and get the following error message: The folder isn't accessible, the folder may be located on an unavailable volume or protected with a password |

I am opening up a file on our network. I can do a saveas to my computer and
then once it is on my machine I can resaveas onto the network. When I open a file on the network and try to saveas back to the network I get that error message. I am running Office2000 and from other computers on the network I don't receive this error. "CyberTaz" wrote: Hi DJA- More info is needed in order to offer any suggestions. Hello Again-
Thanks for the added info, but it sounds to me like an issue that will have to be resolved through your network people. Based on nothing but assumptions about how your network is administered, your login seems to allow you Read Only access to files in a certain directory. Once opened, you can save those files to other locations where you have write priveledges. What is still confusing, though, is "once it is on my machine I can resaveas onto the network". No sarcasm intended, but there is no "resaveas" command. (Please make sure you are clear on the difference between Save as opposed to Save As.) My guess is that when you save a file that was opened from a different location, your system is set to a default directory where you do have read/write access. The other systems on your network may be set up differently, and even that may vary depending on the user who logs in. As I said above, I truly think your network people will have to handle the problem. Hope all goes well |:) "DJA" wrote: I am opening up a file on our network. I sometimes get an error like that at work (win2k). I always suspected that it
was a network malfunction, but the weird thing is that the workbook saves anyway. Just a test.... If you open windows explorer and traverse to that drive, is it accessible there? If it is, can you get back to excel (quickly before bad things happen <bg) and try to save it? DJA wrote: I am opening up a file on our network. The folder may be located on an unavailable volume or protected with a password
I am having the very same issue on my network. 3 XP PRO systems give the error, however, 1 XP PRO system is working just fine with the save as. I have been all over MS & Google but no solution. Please post if anyone finds a fix.
