Default integers entered are converted into decimal places e.g. 1 = 0.01

I'm using Excel to do a darts team's scores and averages. When I enter
integers, they are converted into 0 plus two decimal places, e.g 1 appears as
0.01, 12 appears as 0.12 etc. If I enter e.g. 1.22 or 0.12 its OK. I can
only get the right entry by e.g. 100 which appears as 1. The averages are
calculated and displayed OK with 2 decimal places. I've tried re-installing
Office but no joy.
