Default Excel 2007, why is it slow opening files created in Excel 2003?

I'm now using Excel 2007 and finding it is VERY VERY slow at opening files
created in Excel 2003.

Should i configure 2007 differently??

Probably not, but what you may consider doing is saving those older Excel
..xls files in one of the newer Excel 2007 formats, such as .xlsb or .xlsm
(with macros) and see if they don't start loading faster when you load the
newer format of them. I'd also keep the .xls files around for a while at
least for archive value.
