Default Greyed-out Share Workbook button

I am trying to explore shareing a commonly used workbook with my staff, only
when i try to share it, the command is greyed out.
i am using 2003, i have looked at other workbooks i have created and they
also produce the same greyed-out condition.
Only empty workbooks give me the option to share the workbook.

Am i missing something obvious?

Nippy

One feature that would make the command grayed out is if the workbook is read
only.

Did you save as Read Only or have you copied these workbooks off a CD where they
would have been set to read only?

it's also good to note here that sometimes when you share a workbook, some of
the menu item are greyed out.
