Default Protection elements

Hi,
When protecting a worksheet I want users only to "Select unlocked cells" and
I check this box (and only this box) in the Data, Protection menu.

When opening the worksheet again, locked cells can be selected and the
checkbox "Select locked cells" is checked!

Why does this happen on opening the file? And how can I make it not happen?

Does this happen with every workbook of just a particular one? If it's
limited to just one workbook check that there isn't something in the workbook
event macros changing your protection. If you are prompted to enable macros
when the workbook opens click disable and see if your protection remains as
you set it.

You are saving the workbook after applying this protection aren't you?

It happens with every workbook and it happens when closing and reopening it.
It also happens even if I disable macros on opening.
Right now I tried to check another box, saved, and on opening, the locked
cells cannot be selected! It seems as if it needs 2 boxes to be checked.
Anyway, thanks for your reply and linking the thoughts in other directions.
