is there an easy way to set up a statistical dot plot <

The answer depend partly on what kind of dot plot you want.

You will see a variety of possibilities if you browse to
http://www.google.com or http://groups.google.com and search for "excel dot
plot" (without the quotes).

If you don't find what you want, please describe your data and the desired
chart.
