Default Footnotes; How do you put into Financial Spread Sheet w/ 2003 Exce

I am using MS Excel 2003 and building a financial Spread Sheet and would like
to insert footnotes, with the notation being placed in an number of
categories or line items, so I would like to footnote starting with a small
1, 2, 3, 4...etc. and then post my explanation of the various footnotes at
the bottom of the page.

But I cannot find the command using insert or page setup. I am really a
neaophyte using Excel so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Excel doesn't support footnotes in the manner you describe. Best thing to do
woul dbe to manually insert a superscripted 1, 2, etc., and then at the
bottom of your spreadsheet manually enter the number 1, its information,
number 2, its information, etc.

Dave, thank you but...

The only way that I know how to use a superscript is to click on the cell,
then click on format cell, then check the box that says "superscript"), which
will superscript any number or value in that cell; but my problem is that I
do not want to superscript the value in the cell, but like a footnote, I only
want to superscript a number 1, 2, 3.....and place it in the cell next to the
value or number, that I am trying to connotate a footnote for, and write an
explanation of the footnotes down below the spread sheet.

Can you tell me how to manually insert a superscripted number, without
affecting the value or number, some of which are $ of British Pound
Values....which would seem to me, that if you did manually insert another
"footnote number", then it may adversely affect the value contained in that
cell. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi Tyn,

AFAIK, the only way to do this is to export the EXCEL file to WORD and do the formatting in there
