Default Anorexic columns on my pareto chart

I am creating an Excel pareto chart showing eight weeks of data. Each column
is a week ending date. My problem is that the columns are razor thin and
there is a huge gap between them and I can't widen them by changing any of
the paramteters - I tried adjusting the scale and set the gap setting to zero
- no dice. Please advise.

Hi,

Excel has helpfully turned your category axis into a time series one.
Right click chart and pick chart options...
On the Axis tab set the axis type to be Category rather than automatic.

Cheers
Andy
