Default custom formats

I am trying to store bank sort codes in Excel2003 and have tried 00-00-00 as
a format but this does not seem to work. It worked in Excel 97.
Anybody know how I can store numbers as nn-nn-nn?

Custom format of the above. Will that do?

00-\0000-\0000-\0000

or even this. Adjust No of zeroes to suit
