I decided not to send the sheet but, now I cannot cancel this option.

Are you seeing an email header (the envelope?)
If you are, try clicking the same icon that you clicked before. or use the same menu item you used. File|send to|Mail Recipient is a toggle. Click once to show the envelop. Click again to hide.
