Default Outlook contact linked to name in Excel

I would like to enter a contact name in a cell (in Excel) and have it linked
to the equivalent Outlook Contact so that when you double click, it brings up
the contact's profile. Possible? Some years back someone showed me how to do
this by simply entering a few control characters in front of the typed name;
I have forgotten how exactly that was done.

What you're looking for is called Smart Tags.

Go to TOOLS | AUTOCORRECT OPTIONS and click on the LABEL DATA WITH SMART
TAGS. This will do lookups of names you enter in Excel against your Contacts
in Outlook.

This is a handy feature but it only worked with a few of the names while
ignoring others. Odd. Stock symbols worked perfectly. I wonder why some
names are ignored?

Thanks BobT for this suggestion.
