2007 Opening Files Issue
Excel 2007
I have a short cut on my desktop that points to an Excel file saved in My Documents. When I double-click the short cut it starts the application but the file does not open. However if I click on the Office button (just the Office button and nothing else) the spreadsheet opens. I did not experience this in 2003. Just another of the many blessings brought on with 2007. I have made My Documents a trusted location, have tried saving it in the 97-2003 format and 2007 format (.xlsx). Still the same problem. Any thoughts on what might be causing this and how to fix it? Thanks for any help. |

2007 Opening Files Issue
Hi Jeff
A similar(ish) problem can exist in Xl2003 which is cured by going ToolsoptionsGeneral tab and making sure the "Ignore other applications" checkbox is unchecked. However, I am afraid I have no idea whether a similar option structure is maintained in xl2007, but it might be worth having a search around. Hope this helps! 2007 Opening Files Issue
XL 2007 is relatively new software. Doubtless there are some bugs in it.
This may be one of them. -- Brevity is the soul of wit. " wrote: Hey I'm getting this problem too! Thanks for any help. Hello JeffreyBee I am having exactly the same problem and it's been bugging me too. I installed Office 2007 a few days ago and I'm sure it was ok initially. My son's copy works fine. I haven't changed any settings so I can only imagine it was caused by a Windows automatic update (they have caused similar glitches in the past which Microsoft later provided the fix for) Anyway I'm afraid I haven't any solutions but I will post anything helpful I find out. Regards Dave |
