Default linking shaded cells

In Excel I want to link to cells that contain shading rather than data. Does
anynoe know if/how this can be done?

Default linking shaded cells

Links are established by cell address, not data, not shading. The linked
cell reflects the value of it's target, not the format of the target.

You can use formulas to return values from shaded cells but you must employ
VBA.

See Chip Pearson's site for Functions.

Note the caveats about CF shaded cells.
