I have received a document in excel, but my computer does not recognise the
document and I can not seem to open it in Works, am I able to download excel
for free and how do I do it.

and, of course, you can always purchase Office Standard....

.... or you can find an Excel Viewer at

You won't be able to edit the document, but you can read it in the Viewer.

You could also download OpenOffice - Calc will view and edit Excel
spreadsheets. Most of the commonly-used functions are the same, or only
slightly different.
