Default Date formatting

Apologies because i've posted a couple on here regarding this problem.

Bascially i export information from a system. The dates in excel end up as
both text and number formats. Format 30-03-2006 is text, 10/04/2006 is
number. No matter what i do i cannot convert the test data into the number
format. Tried right clicking and changing it. Copying and pasting special
values etc.

The reason i need to change it is because i then import the info into a
access db, which i then want to manipulate by deducting the date i have
exported from today.

Any ideas (Sorry for the long winded explanation but its quite a complex
problem)

You're probably set up with an American date format and importing
European-style dates.
Try highlighting the column and choosing data text to columns next
next date:DMYFinish.
