Default Pivot Table - Changing Data....?

Hi guys...this might be a silly question....

I have my pivot table on sheet 1 and my data on sheet 2 in my
spreadsheet.

The data is quite large so if i wanted to look something up and change
it i thought i could use the pivot table to do this but it doesnt
change the data on sheet 2. Is this possible of would you need to
change the data on sheet 2 instead.

Thanks

Brian
