Default the disappearing combo box.

Hello,
I have an excel 2000 with some dropdown lists that I use for others to
insert data into. They may or may not have the same version of excel as I
have used to create the document. However, they tell me that after
downloading the spreadsheet from my website the contents of the dropdown list
do not appear. For instance, one lists male, female and I can view it on my
document but a recipient may not be able to see it the first time that they
download it. They are forced to download it a second time before it becomes
visable.
Are there some setting in Excel to force the recipients computer to use the
same set up that I have configured on my machine?
Thanks,
Chieko

Default the disappearing combo box.

There have been complaints that controls from the control toolbox toolbar don't
behave nicely when you use them on a worksheet.

One suggestion is to make sure that the zoom is set to 100%.

Another suggestion is to make sure that the temp folder is cleaned up.

If both these fail, you may want to use a dropdown from the Forms toolbar--or
even a cell with data|validation.

Hi Dave,
I'm curious about how the temp directory would affect contorlls on the excel
worksheet?

Default the disappearing combo box.

Excel stores lots of files for controls in the windows temp folder. Sometimes,
if that folder gets too full, it can confuse excel.

Did it work?

Default the disappearing combo box.

My combo box dropdown window (on sheet) was showing/working until I saved,
closed, then re-opened file. On re-opening, the dropdown box would have only
the number of row reference. Also, could not copy-paste dropdown due to same.
I learned that ranges for linkedcell and listfillrange had custom formatting
set. I changed the formatting to general and that fixed it.
