Default Insert Hyperlink button disabled in Excel

Hi,

Whatever I do, I can't seem to get the button enabled to insert a link
from one cell to another. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

If you are pertaining to the Hyperlink Menu option from Insert, you might not
have selected the whole cell (just click on the cell once)

I would guess the sheet is protected or the workbook is shared.

It isn't protected. How can I tell whether it's shared?
