Default Copy down doesn't change row reference

I'm using XL2003. When I copy down a function (calculating the difference in
two cells in a blank cell between two pivot tables), the row remains the same
but I want it to change to the next row number. Even pressing "Ctrl" doesn't
help.
Any solutions?
