I have some data that I would like to copy down and want to click the black
box in the lower right corner to do so. The problem is the data is a number
and when I do it Excel assumes that I want the next row to be that number
plus 1. Is there anyway that you can turn that off so that it copies the
same number the entire way?

Greg,

That thing is called the Fill Handle. If you hold Ctrl, it will stop
incrementing the numbers. Be sure you're still holding Ctrl when you
release the mouse button.

Right-click and drag.

Release the button and select "copy cells".
