Default combo box count

I have a problem and would greatly appreciate everyone's help. I want to
count and compare things based on previous data entered. So I have two
different categories that need to be filled out. For each row (subject)
entered I want two different drop down lists (is this what a combo box is?).
For one list I want two groups to be displayed and for another list I want 8
categories. What I want to do is count the number of people in the 8
categories based on which of the two groups they are in. So for example my
two groups are CPI and RSOC. My categories are combo1, combo2, combo3...
combo8. For each person I want to choose either CPI or RSOC and one of the
combos. How do I do this?

What I want to do then is compare the number of people in each group and
each combo. So if I have 2 people in CPI/combo2 and 1 person in RSOC/combo
2, the next person to have combo2 will be placed in the RSOC so that I have
an equal number of people who are combo2 in both CPI.

I have a completely different layout that allows me to compare the different
combos and compares them and spits out the one that has the least, but I was
wondering is if this could happen with the setup I described earlier. As I
fill out each person's information, I want it to keep counting those
selections on the drop down lists so that I can compare them. I don't know
how to have a counter for the values in the combo box list. Anyone know how
to do this.
