Default Can I put a carriage return in an EXCEL cell

I want to put several lines in a cell without word wrapping if the column is

Yes.

Type some text then hit ALT + ENTER to get a CR.

Type some more text and ALT + ENTER again.

Hit ENTER to leave the cell.
