Default Selection starting from active cell

I have on one system when a cell is marked as the active cell, the range of
cells is from that particular cell to the cell clicked on rather than the
cell clicked on becoming the active cell. What is causing this problem? I
looked at the cell extention stuff such as via the F8 keys, but not finding
anything there. It doesn't show the EXT at the bottom, but if you press the
F8 key once, it shows "ADD" on the bottom, then if you press it again, the
"ADD" is no longer there. We have tried closing out of Excel and then going
back into Excel and that didn't help either. The only way to get around to
mark the active cell is to use the Ctrl Key while clickin and with no "ADD"
in the status bar.

One possibility: a stuck key on the keyboard. Turn the keyboard upside
down (keys facing the desktop or open trash can) and shake.

Nope, wasn't that. I have ran into this before and so has one of my
co-workers. Appearantly, the system had to be rebooted as now that I'm
thinking about it, it seems as though that was what I had to do when I ran
into the issue.

SHIFT + F8 will put you into ADD mode.

SHIFT + F8 will disable again.

Sounds like a stuck SHIFT key.
