How can I increase the number precision beyond 15 digits? I would like to
type in 18 didgit polynomial coefficients.

You can't! And do you really need 18 digits anyway?

Do a google search for "excel multiple precision add-on". The first
hit in my results promises up to 32767 digits. That "might" meet your
needs ;-).
