Default Inability to start Excel after Refresh update

Since installing the Refresh update this morning, Excel fails to start in
either full or safe mode. Word and Powerpoint work OK. I've also installed
the compatability update, to no avail. Is anyone else having this problem?
I'm loathe to uninstall the original Excel 2003 at this point, but is this
the only solution?

Default Inability to start Excel after Refresh update

I am having the same problem - I think - it starts but will not read any
Excel file, claiming that I either have to update my AV protection or the
file may have a virus. But it says this for EVERY file. Very annoying.
