Default inconsistent error message

When working on my spreadsheets I enter a simple formula into a cell, e.g.
=345+25, hit enter, and the Smart Tag appears showing the error that the cell
is not protected. I then must click and tell it to ignore the error and this
continues until I'm finished with all my entry.
I go to the next spreadsheet and enter an identical formula: =345+25, hit
enter and no error messages appear. Doesn't seem logical to me. (I hate
that when that happens.)
Thanks for any and all assistance.

If you want to turn off those annoying messages:

Goto ToolsOptionsError Checking tab.

Under Rules, uncheck everything that you don't want to be bothered by. I
have then ALL unchecked.

Tools Options Error Checking is not available in Excel 2007.
Inconsistent formula warning flags are very irritating since they never show
an error and take time to remove. Often entering a formula in one cell
results in flags in multiple cells which takes even more time to remove. Any
way to disable this? or remove all the flags at once?
BTW: Why is French the default language? Outlook Express will spell check
ONLY in FRENCH which is really irritating since they are such wimps.
