When Paste Special links the option of Bitmap, etc is given instead of linking the cell. Also cannot just do = and select the other workbook and select a cell. |

You have two copies of excel running.
Close one of the workbooks (and that instance of excel). Then in the remaining running instance, do File|Open to open your other file. Then try your copy|paste special. Maybe this..................?
Are you pasting from one workbook to another? Do you have each workbook open in its own session of Excel? If so, close one session and open both books in one instance of Excel. The paste special should be regular.
