Default text import wizard in 2007

I can't slide or manuever the columns width slide arrows when importing fixed
width. Double clicking doesn't delete them, in fact creates another new
arrow. Sliding them leaves a new arrow at the destination in addition to the
orignal place holder. Opening the same text file in Excel 2003 allows simple
adjustment of the column widths. What gives?
