Default File conversion-text encoding issue

I want to import an excel spreadsheet into Microsoft Word. Upon import the
file conversion dialog box appears. It is asking me to "select the encoding
that makes your document readable". None of the selections makes the
document readable.

I've been able to open other Excel files in Word with no problem. I don't
see any differences in properties between the two types of files.

Any help is appreciated.

Why don't you get your Excel file by clicking on INSERT on the Word menu and
selecting OBJECT. In the click the CREATE FROM FILE tab and then check off
the LINK TO FILE checkbox. Click the browse button and locate your file,
click the INSERT command button in the BROWSE dialog box and click OK.

YOu should be good to go, although some resizing might be in order.
