Default How to suppress auto-calculation when opening an older version fil

If one opens an Excel file in version XP that was saved using a previous
version, Excel will recalculate all cells.

Is there a way to suppress this or turn it off?

All of mine are set to auto calculate but, as I recall, excel will

Thank you. I figured there was a Registry tweak even if there were no
"Options" directly configurable by the user.
