Default Problem with Linked Files

Are you sure that the links point to the correct location--maybe it uses a
different mapped drive?

And refreshing the values doesn't help?

Can I insert a macro at file open to control the updating of links manually
and overcome the error?

xl2002+ likes to recalculate any workbooks that were created in previous
versions. In earlier versions of excel, if you answer No to the update links
prompt, the existing values are kept. In xl2002+, you get those errors.

Hi,

I have two files. One contains pricing data and the other is a quotation
generator (template file). The price file is accessed over the network.
This procedure works perfectly on the machine that the template was developed
on, but as soon as I copy the template to another machine, the quotation
template is failing to update links from the price file.

When opening the template, I get the question re updating links (which I
don't want) and when I select to update it errors. After this I do Edit,
Links and the source file shows Status OK.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
