Default how do I save an excel file to a rewritable compact disc?

Every time I save an excel file to a compact disc it saves as read only. I
can't seem to change this setting. I am new to office xp and this is really
frustrating me. Help!

sorry, you cannot save direct to compact disc.

It's set to read only because you can't modify the file and then save it back
to the CD via excel, you have to use CD writing software
