Default EXT at toolbar

I have a cordless keypad and whenever I hit the minus key (-) EXT appears at
the bottom left right hand toolbar. This only happens when I try and put the
minus as the first character of the cell. It does not happen when I put
another character first and then the minus key. This does not happen when I
hit the minus key on the laptop only on the keypad.

EXT shows you are in Extended mode for selecting cells.

With a normal keyboard EXT is toggled on/off with the F8 key.

Don't know how that equates to your ( -) key on your keypad.

Suggest you have a look at the manual that came with the keypad.

The situation only started recently. I connected the cordless keypad to
another maching and the minus has worked correctly. what else do you suggest
I try. there was no manual with the keypad and the manufacture wasn't able to
help me.

You have a laptop and a keypad.

Laptops, as far as I know have different keyboard configuations than normal
desktop PC with a keyboard.

I have no experience with either but if the (-) key works on the laptop keyboard
and the cordless keypad (-) key works on another computer then you have some
sort of conflict between to two keypads.

Not much help, I know.
