Default How can I blur figures in an Excel spreadsheet ?

I want to show people a spreadsheet that I use at home for my own banking,
but I don't want them to see my own figures.

Is this possible ?

Thumbs up Answer: How can I blur figures in an Excel spreadsheet ?

How to Blur Figures in an Excel Spreadsheet
  1. Select the cells that contain the figures you want to blur.
  2. Right-click on the selected cells and choose "Format Cells" from the context menu.
  3. In the Format Cells dialog box, go to the "Number" tab.
  4. Select "Custom" from the Category list.
  5. In the "Type" field, enter a series of semicolons (;) that correspond to the number of digits in the figures you want to blur. For example, if you want to blur a three-digit number, enter three semicolons (;;;) in the Type field.
  6. Click "OK" to apply the formatting.

Keep in mind that this is not a secure way to protect sensitive information, as someone with advanced Excel skills could potentially unblur the figures. If you want to protect your banking information, it's best to use a more secure method, such as password-protecting your Excel file or using a dedicated financial software.

Note: No Excel formula examples or macro/Visual Basic code were present in the original text.

You can hide the rows, columns, or sheet.
You can also click Format, Cells, Pattern, choose a color and a
pattern.

I do the same thing for demos using live client data - I use SnagIT for
this from www.techsmith.com (free 30-day trial, or used to be). You can
print output to SnagIt, and then 'blur' any part of the picture, with
varying levels of blur, and save as a jpg or other formats.

Works really well.

Mike
