Default when hiding columns mess: "cannot shift objects off sheet"

Hello

I'm trying to hide excel columns and I've been working with excel for years,
but I've never seen this message: "cannot shift objects off sheet". Does
anyone know how this might have happened, but most importantly how to fix it?
Thank you.
