Default Active Cell Question

I have a rather large spreadsheet and would like to either highlight the
active cell to make it easier ot find/see when toggling betwwwn spreads or
paper to spread sheet, or to change the color and size of the lines
surrounding the cell.

Any ideas to help out here?

Default Active Cell Question

Thank you for responding, I tried this and it is WONDERFUL, however, when I
closed excel it asked for a password. I kept guessing until it went away
then once I reopend excel the rowliner was not there anymore, I would have to
double click the add in again.

What is the password all about and how do I use this add in and not have to
install it every time?

Thanks,,

Store the rowliner.xla in your office\library folder.

Open Excel and a workbook.

ToolsAdd-ins.

Scroll to the Rowliner and checkmark it.

It will be available for all sheets and books.

The checkmark will remain until you uncheck it next year or whenever.

As far as the passwrd message goes, I have no idea because I don't know how you
originally loaded or opened rowliner.xla

It does not ask for a passwrd from me.

work computer, I did as instructed below on my home computer but every time I
use it it errs out and closes excel then disables the macro.

Any other ideas?

I will assume you downloaded the Rowliner.zip file from Chip's site.

Then you extracted Rowliner.xla and placed it in your Office\Library folder.

Then you opened Excel and a workbook.

Then you went to ToolsAdd-ins and checked the Add-in and OK

Then you selected a cell.

Is that when it errors out and closes Excel?

Does any of the warnings Chip provides on the Rowliner page pertain to you?

He notes: The current version supports Excel 97, 2000, and 2002. For Excel
2000, you must have the SR1 patch installed. Otherwise you may receive an
"Illegal Operation" message.

It also works in Excel 2003 but I have no idea if 2007 beta is supported.

yes I have done all that you say in the correct folders and even tried the
addins folder. I can open excel I go to tools, addins and select teh
rowliner and once I say ok I get the "Microsoft Office Excel has encountered
a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." error.
ONce I close that I get "excel experienced a serious errir the last time the
add-in Rowliner was opened, Would you like to disable the add-in?" I say yes
adn re enable it fromt eh help menu but it is a repeating problem I can
replicate this every time.

Kim

This is a mystery to me.

Read the caveats carefully on Chip's site.

http://www.cpearson.com/excel/RowLiner.htm

Maybe something there.

I read everything I could find, I even did a seaarch on rowliner - 2003 and
crash and found that others seem to have this same issue in Excel 2003,
perhaps ROwliner does not play well with it?
