Default Filtering Handles

Is it possible to set up a filtered list so that filter handles/drop-downs
are visible but aren't adjacent to the list? The way my list is set up, there
are a number of rows underneath the head row that contain important
information but which cannot move or be included in a sort. I can use the
Advanced Filter function to specify a range, but many people will use this
and most of them probably don't know how to do that. Ideally I would have
handles/drop-downs permanently visible (like what you get in a List Box or
with AutoFilter), but, again, not adjacent to the list itself. Is this
possible?
