Default Listen to Your Customers

It's frustrating to me and many users I know that when Microsoft offers
something new, they force it down our throats instead of giving us a choice.

Having recently received a Digital Media Pro keyboard at my office as a
replacement, I was delighted that the function keys can be mapped to commonly
used tasks. However, I am frustrated by two product decisions:

- The function keys have been ingrained in user's habits since the 80's,
and are implemented heavily in many applications, including yours. Why on
earth would you make the default state "F-Lock Off", making the enhanced keys
the default?!

- Some of the new enhanced keys are useful as they are; others I'd prefer
to use as a normal function key. But there is no ability in the software to
map an enhanced key to its normal Function key behavior. I have to monitor
the state of the F-Lock key, and toggle back and forth if I want to use both.

Visual Basic is another example. While those who program appreciate the
common platform and its power, users like my boss are really ****ed off that
they can't create a simple key memorization macro. I can't believe the code
to memorize a series of keystrokes would bloat the software. It seems that
you just don't understand your customers, or worse, don't care about making
the software fit their needs.
