problem with scatter graph
My problem is that I set up my graphs ahead of time and select the whole
range where the data is eventually filled in. When I look at the graph until the range is full of data the graph doesn't act as a scatter graph. The X value starts at 1 and increases linearly from there. The graph looks the same but it is skewed and doesn't reflect the x values correctly. Is there any fix to this? Thanks Steve |

problem with scatter graph
You are probably creating a line chart. Even though the Line Chart looks
similar to the XY Scatter Chart, they are very different beasts. You want the latter. -- Regards, Tushar Mehta www.tushar-mehta.com Excel, PowerPoint, and VBA add-ins, tutorials Custom MS Office productivity solutions In article , SMArcher221 @discussions.microsoft.com says... problem with scatter graph
Thanks for the response. I know the difference between line and scatter and
i have chosen scatter. The graph shows correct x values once the range selection is filled. I can also fix this problem when I increase the selection for the graph daily. However I have the document shared and the graph is not able to be changed in that mode. Example X -1 0 1 2 X 1 2 3 4 Y 2 3 4 2 is shown as Y 2 3 4 2 The y values are correct but they don't follow the x value. It is the first point that is selected and the y value. Then the second point and hte y value. Thanks for the response though Steve "Tushar Mehta" wrote: You are probably creating a line chart. problem with scatter graph
Steve -
When constructing an XY (Scatter) chart, if any of the worksheet cells for the X data are interpreted as text instead of numbers, Excel uses the values 1,2,3,... for the X axis. There are various solutions. One way that may coerce the data from text to numbers is to enter 0 (zero) in an unused cell, copy, select the X data, paste special values add. - Mike www.mikemiddleton.com "SMArcher221" wrote in message ...
