I need to plot a secondary axis on a chart. MS instructions for plotting
secondary series listed below. The problem is there isn't a "Selected Data
Series" on the Format menu. I am using XP, how do I get this?

When the range of values for different data series in a 2-D chart varies
widely, or when you have mixed types of data (such as price and volume), you
can plot one or more data series on a secondary value (y) axis. The scale of
the secondary axis reflects the values for the associated series.

Click the data series you want to plot along a secondary value axis.
On the Format menu, click Selected Data Series, and then click the Axis tab.
Click Secondary axis.

Hi,

You sure you have the series selected?
You can also right click the series in the chart to get a popup menu to
pick Format from.
Or just double click the series.

You have selected the particular column or line you want set to the
secondary axis and none of the things I suggest work?

For now I used the custom chart type for a secondary axis line so I could get
the option to plot on the right side of the chart, not just the left. I had
to redo it but at least I got the chart created.

My problem wasn't with creating the chart but with the item that is supposed
to be on the "Format" menu. When I click Format (according to MS
instructions) after selecting my data there isn't an option called "Selected
Data Series" for me to click. If I can't click the item I can't add the
secondary axis using the instructions I found in "Help".

I would still like to know why this item isn't part of my Format menu and
how to get it added for future use.

If when you say "after selecting my data" you mean the cells then you
are correct, the item will not be under the Format menu. You have to
have the chart line or bar selected for it to appear.
