I'm trying to make a graph with data that relates to pressure vs temperature
and I can not get excel to let me number my own X axis. I want to establish the values for both X and Y and then have data distributed on a line graph. Can this be done? |

Hey Teach -
Put the X values in a column and the corresponding Y values in the next column. Select the data and start the chart wizard, but don't fall into the trap of creating a Line chart. You want an XY Scatter chart. The names ore deceptive: either can be formatted to show markers or no markers, connecting line or no connecting line. The difference is in the treatment of X data. The line chart treats the X values as non numeric category labels, while the scatter chart recognizes their numerical values. Here are a couple of web pages with comparisons of the two chart types: http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/P...cle.asp?ID=190 http://peltiertech.com/Excel/ChartsH...ValueAxis.html - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Peltier Technical Services Tutorials and Custom Solutions http://PeltierTech.com/ _______ heyteach wrote: I'm trying to make a graph with data that relates to pressure vs temperature and I can not get excel to let me number my own X axis.
