Default Excel drawing -- html/css?

I have a fairly complicated excel illustration (drawn using autoshapes
elements) that I'd like to be converted to html/css. Goal is to have the
attributes of selected graphical elements (color, embedded text) be
controlled programmatically.

I've tried saving the file as htm, but the text elements are not saved in
html form as I had expected.

Thanks for any help/guidance!
