Default X-axis years and months

Hi,

I was migrated to excel 2007 and my graphs are broken. I created a graph in
excel 2003 in which the x-axis was pointing to a A3:B33 range. The A colum
contains the year (2008, 2009, etc) and the B colum contains the months
(Jan-Dec). The A cells were merged to cover the months. It looks like excel
2003 was smart enough to group the months as part of the years. Does anyone
know how to get my x-axis back the way it was?

Thanks

Merged cell are an anathema.
Why not unmerge, insert a new column and use a formula such as =A1&" "&B1
best wishes

Hi,

It must be happening in the translation. If you plot cells laid out as you
describe it works fine in 2007. However, an easier way to handle this is to
NOT merge the cells an enter the year once for each group, as follows:

Year Month amt
2008 Jan 58
Feb 26
Mar 24
Apr 94
May 57
Jun 83
Jul 100
Aug 37
Sep 41
Oct 21
Nov 64
Dec 73
2009 Jan 31
Feb 62
Mar 63
Apr 48
