This means, that to respond we need to start a separate thread - which is a
bad practice and wastes time.

Maybe you want to show the +/- symbol on the chart? If so choose Insert,
Symbol, and choose the font set Symbol - its in there.

Tell us what version of Excel (2007 or before)
Note in Excel 2007 the command add vertical error bars give both vertical
and horizontal, you have to manually delete the unwanted one
