I have 2 sets of about 7000 data points in a line chart and have a column of
data with sporadic labels at selected positions. In Excel 2007, selecting this range (7000 rows, say 30 if which have a label) as the category labels and setting the label spacing as one, I can only get the very first label to show on the chart. By playing around with the label spacing, I can sometimes get the first 2 labels to display (but cannot understand why) but cannot get all my labels to display as expected (and as they would under previous versions of Excel). Can anyone tell me how to get all my labels to display (at their appropriate positions)? The behaviour remains the same whether the range contains sporadic text data or formulae whic resultmaninly in blanks with a few resulting in text. (I have some sets of time data, but for a few months in different years, which I want to plot on a single chart, not using a time axis as this would have most of the space dedicated to the dates with no data... I have used a formula to lablel only the 1 and 15 of the month at midnight and these are the labes I would like to get on my category axis.) Many thanks and best wishes, Boris, |

This is one of those things that doesn't work the way it used to in 2003. I
don't think the specs adhered that closely to 2003, and they didn't have a version ready to really test fully until RTM. A number of issues have been addressed in SP1 (and in the SP2 beta, but I haven't had much time to work on that). If you can't get what you want in the 2007 labels, and upgrading to 2003 is not an option, then you could add an XY chart series with points along the X axis where you want them, and add labels to these points. http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/ArbitraryAxis.html Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP http://PeltierTech.com "Boris" wrote in message ... Thanks for the tip Jon. I am running SP1, which improved many things but
Excel 2007 is still slow and cumbersome in many ways compared to previous versions. Unfortunately, I guess I have to stick with it as I frequently need to process data that would exceed previous row limits - and there are some nice new features too so its not alll bad! Has this issue been rised as a "bug" perhaps to be addressed in a future sp? Thanks again and best wishes, Boris. I don't recall details, but I remember this kind of issue coming up during
and after the beta. I guess most things go onto a list, sorted by priority, and when it's time to build SPs or even the next release, they go down the list as far as possible. It's not far enough for you and me, but anyway. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Tutorials and Custom Solutions Peltier Technical Services, Inc. - http://PeltierTech.com _______ "Boris" wrote in message ...
