Default 2007 does not like 2003 chart macros

I have a lot of time invested over the years in macros to analyze data from
my work. I read and graph various files of data that I assemble into an
Excel sheet. Everything works perfectly in 2003. But in 2007, I can not
reliably generate graphs that include all my data. I have observed at least
2 repeatable problems as follows:

1. I can generate a "base" graph with up to 4 data series. If I then run a
macro to change each series line color and weight, I will loose the 4th
series. The data is there and the series shows up on on the graph key, but
there is no visible line on the graph. If I manually format the line as
smoothed, I get a line on the graph. No other manual line adjustments make a
difference.

2. When I graph 6 data series. I randomly get 4 to 6 lines visible in the
base graph. If there are 6 lines visible, running a macro to reset line
colors and weights looses the 5th series visibility. If the lines are
already missing, they never come back.

My graphing sheet hangles from 1 to 20 different series as I select them. I
have not tried other combinations, I have only lost time and money on my
current critical project with 4 and 6 data series. I have retained Excel
2003 just to profitably continue this project.

The original macros were written and modified from recorded code in Excel
2000 and Excel 2003. I tried to do the same in 2007, but any series line
formatting is not recorded in the macro. I would like some help with either
identifying the wayward code (it is not the first time that VB Applications
changes have soured my day) I have or geting pointed in a direction (can I
generate Styles on the fly?) that will allow me to reliably generate and
format graphs from data tables in Excel 2007.
