I created a simple chart with two columns of data. Now, the chart icon is
grey and I can no longer create a chart on this spreadsheet. Furthermore, when I copy these data to a new spreadsheet, the chart icon goes grey and no charts can be created on that spreadsheet either even if new data are used. |

Hi,
Never heard of this before. However, here are two unlikely causes. 1. If you are in Edit mode the charting button becomes inoperative. 2. If you are looking at the Pivot Table Charting button, it becomes inoperative whenever you are not in a pivot table. The Pivot Table Charting button looks identical to the Standard toolbar's Charting button except that it only becomes active when the cursor is in a pivot table. -- Maybe this will help, Shane Devenshire Microsoft Excel MVP "HighFlier22" wrote: I created a simple chart with two columns of data. What is the "Edit mode"? With regard to the pivot table, I am definitely dealing with the charting function. I have the same inoperability when I display the chart toolbar. Did you change the workbook status to 'Shared'? Have you selected multiple
