Default Data voids chart function

I created a simple chart with two columns of data. Now, the chart icon is
grey and I can no longer create a chart on this spreadsheet. Furthermore,
when I copy these data to a new spreadsheet, the chart icon goes grey and no
charts can be created on that spreadsheet either even if new data are used.

Hi,

Never heard of this before. However, here are two unlikely causes. 1. If
you are in Edit mode the charting button becomes inoperative. 2. If you are
looking at the Pivot Table Charting button, it becomes inoperative whenever
you are not in a pivot table. The Pivot Table Charting button looks
identical to the Standard toolbar's Charting button except that it only
becomes active when the cursor is in a pivot table.

Shane,

What is the "Edit mode"? With regard to the pivot table, I am definitely
dealing with the charting function. I have the same inoperability when I
display the chart toolbar.

Did you change the workbook status to 'Shared'? Have you selected multiple
sheets?
